Once you’ve built and tested your agent, publishing makes it available to your users through the web chat widget, phone integration, or API. Each time you publish, Voiceflow creates a new version of your agent that you can track and reference later.

Publishing to staging and production

To publish your agent, open the Framework or Agent tab and click the green Publish button in the top right corner of the screen. Cover Placeholder The publish modal lets you choose which environment to publish to, and optionally add a version name and release notes to help you track changes over time. Voiceflow has three environments:
  • Development: Your current working version. This updates every time you click the blue Run button in the top right.
  • Staging: A testing environment where you can preview your agent via the web chat widget or a phone number before going live.
  • Production: Your live environment that powers your public-facing agents.
You should always test your agent on the development environment before pushing to production. Teams at larger organizations often use the staging environment to allow other teams to review their agent before pushing to production, but this workflow is optional and may not be necessary at smaller companies.

Viewing release history

To view your agent’s release history, open SettingsRelease history. Here you can see the name, release date, and notes for each published version. Cover Placeholder

Rolling back to a previous version

Every time you publish, Voiceflow automatically creates a backup. If you need to restore a previous version of your agent, open SettingsBackups, find the version you want, and click Restore. Cover Placeholder
